François Monnet

François Monnet (born 1951) – a nomadic artist, born in a small village in the Central Massif, in the old volcanic mountains. He works mainly in the field of theatre and visual arts. As a young man, he travelled a lot, including to Norway, Poland, Faroe Islands, Greece, Turkey, Mongolia, as well as many other French provinces. Throughout all these years he developed his interest in folk traditions, which is reflected in his works. He creates installations referring to rural ceremonies, processions, and collective art, in which he presents the rural character of rituals, tribal joy and a group nature of rituals.
