Jan Gryka

(born 1959) is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts at the MCSU in Lublin. Defended a diploma in Painting in prof. Marian Stelmasiak studio in 1983. Currently works at his alma mater, holding a degree of an associate professor or the Faculty of Art. Co-founder of the Biała Gallery, running Young Arts Forum programme there. His works were presented on numerous individual and collective exhibitions in Poland and abroad. In his work he reached for various form of expression – ranging from performance, through artistic objects, drawings, photography and film. However, the most consistently employed formula is one of ephemeric installations in which he uses fragile and natural substances such as flour or dough. Recently, with the use of artifical flowers, created a piece China plastic is fantastic in a garden next to the Biała Gallery’s premises at Narutowicza 32 street in Lublin. The work emphasises the processive, undurable character of the artistic activity.
