Robert Kuśmirowski

Robert Kuśmirowski (PL) born 1973 – artist, performer, author of installations, objects, photography, drawings, born in Łódź. Graduate with diploma in sculpture and employee of the Faculty of Arts of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. He made his debut in the Biała Gallery in Lublin in 2002. His works are often an excellent example of artistic mystification. It is a “forger” of matter, time and space. He turns memories, thoughts and dreams into permanent traces. The artists plays a game interweaving counterfeit copies of original items into his installations. He painstakingly reconstructs, imitates and copies. Thus he creates fictitious situations, or through these activities he creates completely new art spaces, blurring the boundaries between the real and the artificial, between the past and the present, between what is art and what can turn into art. Kuśmirowski received the Polityka Passport Award in 2005. He is associated with Foksal Gallery Foundation, Johen Galerie in Berlin, Guido Costa Projects in Torino and Andrew Kreps Gallery in New York. He lives and works in Lublin.
