Z lasu

Z lasu – a vocal group that sings traditional songs from the Polesie region – from Ukraine and Belarus. It is made up of people with many years of experience in practicing traditional music, singing together since 2008. They travel to Polesie in search of old songs, meetings with people and traces of archaic culture. They establish contacts with older residents, archive their songs and learn to sing from them. The group was founded on the initiative of Jagna Knittel, during the projects implemented by the Panorama Kultur association since 2008 in Polesie.
The band will perform in the following line-up: Maniucha Bikont, Julita Charytoniuk, Ewa Grochowska, Anna Jakowska, Jagna Knittel, Olga Kozieł, Karolina Podrucka.
The program of the concert will include songs collected by the band’s participants themselves, in Belorussian villages from the Brest region (including from the area of Pinsk and Stolin) and Ukrainian region (Dubrowicki, Zariczański and Rokitniański areas). These will be spring, summer and of course – Kupala night’s songs. We will also hear forest songs, which used to be sang while picking up berries and mushrooms, as well as lyrical songs that are sung even today at the time of rest.
