Artur Klinau

Klinau was born in 1965 in Minsk in Belarus. In 1987 he graduated in architecture from the Belarusian Technical Academy. He is a writer and a journalist; he has been the editor of the art magazine ‘pARTisan’ since 2011 and the president of the Belarusian Association of Contemporary Art since 1998. He works in the field of visual arts, creates installation art and conceptual designs. He collaborates with Andrei Varabyou – a sculptor and creator of installation art. Straw is one of the basic materials Klinau uses for his installations. His works were exhibited during the 54th Biennale in Venice in 2011 in the Belarusian Pavilion. The artist presented an installation entitled The Last Supper – a straw reconstruction of the Orthodox iconic representation.
