Księżyc

Music group which worked mainly in 1990-96 and was reactivated in 2014. Members of the group: Agata Harz, Katarzyna Smoluk (vocals), Robert Niziński (woodwinds and keyboards), Lechosław Polak (keyboards, tape) and Remigiusz Mazur-Hanaj (tapes, texts). The band initially was a female a cappella vocal project, inspired by Slavic folk music from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Polish and Belarus. Musicians defined their music as psychedelic-ethnical minimalism. Their lyrics were linked to the symbolism of the moon as a symbol of femininity, mystery, transformation and death. Concerts of the group usually took a form of a one-time occurrence, thanks to which the group is known to be characteristic phenomena in the history of Polish performance from the 1989-1995 period. The group has published two releases: the album “Moon” and the EP “New Moon”. Currently, they perform rarely,, shows are combined with happenings or elements of theater. After reactivation hey played for instance with Iva Bitova.
