Łukasz Łuczaj – guest of the festival

Łukasz Łuczaj is a Polish botanist, university lecturer, ardent admirer and promoter of nature and activist for the environment protection. He is known mainly for his publications on wild edible plants. His scientific research concentrates mainly on plant ecology and ethnobotany. On his farm he runs ecological experiments and promotes the idea of “wild garden” oriented at maximal biodiversity, i.a. cultivates hay meadows and fields with endangered species of weeds, and attempts to recreate natural undergrowth in young tree stands on former farmland.
Ethnobotanist, author of culinary workshops in wild cooking. He has his own programme “Łukasz Łuczaj’s wild dinner” on a TV channel KUCHNIA+, where he shares his knowledge on different species of wild edible plants and herbs, shows how to distinguish between the “bad” and the “good” ones, and prepares dishes using them.
