Paulina Kara

Paulina Kara graduated from the Artistic Department at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin – diploma in painting from the studio of J. Wojciechowski. The main motif of her works and installations is human figures. The most characteristic elements of her work are puppets: a caricatured representation of fictional or real characters by means of which she highlights social and cultural absurdities with an ironic “tongue in cheek”. Her installations frequently reverse in a perverse way the relation between the viewer and the viewed object. Since 2004 she is associated with the circles of the Biała Gallery and the Young Forum of Art.
Exhibitions: 2005-2012 “Art’s supermarket” – Warsaw; “Polish landscape” (diploma) – the Biała Gallery Lublin; “White Zone” – Austrian Culture Forum, Warsaw; dolls and set design for “The Wedding” by Wyspiański;  “The Tower” The Dialogue of Four Cultures Festival in Łódź; L2 – installation in Lviv; “Spectra”, Warsaw – inauguration of “The Grand Toscano” by Igor Mitoraj – exhibition under the patronage of Mitoraj and Starak Family Foundation; Geppert’s Competition – Wrocław; European painting competition Gdynia 2012 – The Dar Pomorza.
